EDGEFIELD, S.C. - Mrs. Mamie L. Gordon, 88, of 724 Hwy 378 East, entered into rest March 12, 2010 at the Hospice House of the Piedmont. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2010, at Pleasant Lane Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin L. Gordon officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Gordon, a native of Edgefield County, was a Ship Welder during WWII, a cosmetologist, and a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Columbia, S.C. She was a member of Trimphant Church of Jesus Christ. Survivors include two daughters, Gwendolyn Matthews and Joyce Gordon-Derricotte; two sons, Sidney (Mattie) Gordon and Randy Gordon; a sister, Charles Scott; a brother, Milligan (Constance) Adams; fifteen grandchildren; thirty two great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Friends may call at the residence or after 1 p.m. today at the funeral home. G. L.
