AUGUSTA, Ga. - Virginia Appling Trammell entered peacefully into eternal rest on March 10, 2010. She was born on September 8, 1920 to De Ester Appling and Minnie Avery Appling in Lincolnton, Georgia. She was a member of Greater Mount Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia where she faithfully attended and served on the Mothers' Board until her health failed. She retired from the Augusta National Golf Club in 2001 at the age of eighty after sixteen years of service. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 2:00 PM from Greater Mount Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, Wheeler Road, Augusta with Dr. Victor Thomas, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Westover Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at the funeral home. She is survived by her daughter, Hattie T. Graham; two sisters, Carrie Appling Hayes and Lillian Appling Bennett; three grandchildren, Florence Appling, Byron Graham, and Mark Graham; a devoted nephew, Lawrence (Cheryl) Bennett; a caring niece, Vickie Faye Jones; several other nieces and nephews; six great-grandchildren and a host of sorrowing cousins and friends.
