THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Richard W. "Bill" Sheffield, 83, beloved husband of Mrs. Beatrice Sheffield, went home to be with his heavenly father Wednesday, March 10, 2010 in the Lake Crossing Health Care Center. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 13, in the Thomson Second Baptist Church with Dr. Ron Drawdy officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Sheffield was a native of Jacksonville, Fl., but had lived in Thomson for many years. He was a retired Truck Driver and had also retired as a Bus Driver for Southeastern Stages. He was a Navy Veteran. He was a member of Thomson Second Baptist Church, which he dearly loved. A special thanks to Dr. Margaret Sanders for her devoted care and compassion. Mr. Bill was a devoted Husband, a loving Father and Grandfather, and will be greatly missed. He loved the outdoors, woodworking, fishing, watching stock car racing, and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Sheffield, Thomson; his daughter, Joy Leek, Appling; his son, Lee Renfroe, Chapel Hill, N.C.; two grandsons, Richard Brown and Christopher Renfroe; and his faithful companion, Lucy, his cat, who he dearly loved. Pallbearers will be Chris Renfroe, David Cody, Gary Palmer, Rhusha Mack, V.C. Partain, and Charles Land. Friends may call at the Curtis Funeral Home.
