AIKEN, S.C. - Funeral services for Mr. Marshall Pope, Jr., age 73 of 79 Boggy Branch Rd who passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010 at his home will be held 1 PM Friday, March 12, 2010 at Springfield Baptist Church in Eureka, SC, Pastor Reginald White with Rev. Dr. Alexander Pope, Presiding and Minister Robert Reed, Eulogist. Burial will be held in the church cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall Pope Sr. and Annie Myrtle Pope and his brothers, John Arthur Pope and Jack Wade Pope. He leaves to cherish his memory: sisters, Mamie (Joe) Fields, Annie Myrtle (William) Hemingway, Patricia Elizabeth (Robert) Reed, Aiken, SC, Salomia Pope, Atlanta, GA, and Catherine Denise Pope, North Augusta, SC; brothers, Cephas Perry (Esther) Pope, Clinton, NC; Tommy Pope, Aiken, SC, Alexander (Margie) Pope, Augusta, GA, Willie C. (Jean) Pope, San Antonio, TX, Talmadge (Miriam) Pope, Evans, GA. Pallbearers will be nephews and floral attendants will be nieces. Mr. Pope will lie in state at the church from 12 noon until the hour of service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6-7 pm. Friends may call at the residence of the brother, Tommy Pope, 724 Oriole St or at Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home beginning 3 pm Thursday.
