SAVANNAH, Ga. - Mrs. Sharra Lynn (Mullinax) Culver died Sunday March 7, 2010 at St. Joseph/Candler Hospital in Savannah Georgia after a short illness. Born in Royston, Ga. on May 5, 1943 she was the daughter of the late J. Fred and Dorthy (Guest) Mullinax. Married in 1962 she traveled around the nation and world with her husband, an officer in the US Army. Arriving in Liberty County in 1977, Mrs. Culver began working for the Liberty County Board of Education in 1978 as secretary and book keeper at Bradwell Institute until retiring in 2007. She was an avid bowler belonging to GAUSBC BA/WBA and TNBA. She was secretary of Ft Stewart WIBC, GAWIBC membership development chair, FSYABA secretary, YABA Peewee coach, Sgt at Arms for 13 years for Coastal Empire Council, FSUSBC President for the last 5 years, GAUSBC WBA Sgt at Arms for the last 10 years, set up the GAUSBC BA/WBA Senior Tournament for the last four years. GAWBA secretary of year 1993-94 and 1998-99, Life Member FSWBA 2003, Ga State USBC WBA Hall of Fame 2007, and 1st place in age group at 2009 Ga. State USBC WBA Sr. Tournament, were among her many awards for her bowling endeavors. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was the treasurer of the Liberty County Republican Party from 1982-1992. She is survived by her husband Lester Albert Culver Jr., children Laird and Becky Culver of Enterprise Alabama; Dawn and Phil Youngblood of West Palm Beach Florida; Brit and Jay Cortes of Glennville Georgia; Lance and Susan Culver of Hartwell Georgia; 8 grandchildren; one sister Fredna Hall of Augusta Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Thursday March 11. 2010 at Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home 1822 E. Oglethorpe Hwy, Hinesville Georgia 31313. Relatives and friends will be received beginning at 5:45p.m. The service will begin at 7p.m. Family requests in lieu of flowers donations in Sharra's name be made to the St Joseph/Candler Foundation for Lewis Cancer Research Pavilion, 225 Candler Drive, Savannah Georgia 31405.
