LINCOLNTON, Ga. - Mrs. Blanche Wolford Dempsey, 97 widow of Howard Ray Dempsey passed from this life to her heavenly home on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at McDuffie Regional Medical Center, Thomson, Ga. Mrs. Dempsey, daughter of the late Sam and Mary Stewart Wolford was born on September 2, 1912 in Pikeville, Kentucky. She was married April 5, 1930 at Pikeville, Ky.; but, lived most of her married life of 70 years in Floyd County in the Wheelright and Weeksbury area. She was the last surviving Charter member of the Free Pentecostal Church at Upper Burton, and had been a member of Jones Chapel since living in Lincoln County. Mrs. Dempsey was blessed with a long life, and a wonderful family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a baby daughter, Floretta, a grandson, Paul David Dempsey; daughter-in-law, Patricia Dempsey; brother, Andrew Kinney; sisters, Ersil Thompson, Angie Kinney, and Samantha Francis. She is survived by her sons, Harlan Lee Dempsey, and wife, Barbara of Taylor, Mi. Harry Gerald Dempsey, and wife Jonell of Indianapolis, In. Daughter, Mary Lou Brady, and husband, Rev. Donald Brady of Lincolnton. Eight Grandchildren. Fourteen Great- grandchildren. 7 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.
