William Henry Holmes (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Monday, February 22, 2010 at his residence, Mr. William Henry Holmes, III, 68, of Augusta. Mr. Holmes was a native of Augusta. He attended Boys Catholic High & graduated valedictorian from Aquinas High School. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.A. in Journalism. He served in the Air Force, stationed in the Pacific. After returning to Augusta he began a career as News Director for WBBQ, later working in the news department at WGAC & Sunny 105. He ended his career working for Public Affairs at Fort Gordon. He was a member of the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, where he was a Eucharistic minister. He was also a member of the Irish American Heritage Society. His family said that he was a hard core, conservative Catholic. Family members include sisters: Margaret H. Kasper (Paul), Jane H. Cason (Chuck); brothers: Larkin M. Holmes, Edward J. Holmes and several loved nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry & Margaret Holmes. A Memorial Mass will be held at the Church of the Most Holy Trinity on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 12:15 p.m. with Father Michael Lubinsky celebrant. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Aquinas High School, 1920 Highland Ave., Augusta, GA 30904.
