NORWOOD, Ga. - Mr. Ernest J. Shanks, Jr. (Atiba) entered into rest Thursday, February 18, 2010 at McDuffie Regional Medical Center in Thomson, GA. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. from Trinity Christian Methodist Episcopal Church with Reverend Stephen J. Delaine officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, LaVonda (Adama) Shanks, Norwood, GA; his two sons, Shomari Shanks, Shreveport, LA and Jamal Shanks, Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Edith Shanks - Burnett, Philadelphia, PA (daughter, Sharon) and Theresa Shanks - Brooks , Augusta, GA (son, Tyrone); brother, Clarence Shanks, Augusta, GA ; sister, Patricia LaFluer, Fort Pierce, FL; two sisters-in-law, JoAnn Sears, Norwood, GA, and Barbara Sinkfield, Brooklyn, NY; three brothers-in-law, Gregory Jackson, Norwood, GA, Dwayne Jackson (Chris), Oceanside, CA, and Isiah Jackson, III (Linda), Shreveport, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews and many special friends and family.
