David R. Smith (BYRON, Ga.)

BYRON, Ga. - David R. Smith, 67, entered into rest on Saturday, February 6, 2010. Mr. Smith was born on February 16, 1942 in Swainsboro. His church home was Peachtree Baptist Church where he was a deacon, Primetimers, and Adult 1 Sunday school class. He proudly served with the Army National Guard. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railway where he was the supervisor of work equipment. His hobbies included; fishing, camping and most especially spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Retired Railroad couples club. He volunteered with the Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief with the Rehoboth Association. His parents, Morgan Smith and Lillie Belle Smith preceded him in death. His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of forty- nine years Maudie 'Sue' Smith; children, Keith (Saralyn) Smith, Byron; Brenda (Vince) Gammage, Longwood, Florida; Gwen (Joe) Feyerabend, Byron; five precious grandchildren, Stephanie Phipps, Tara Ward, Cody Feyerabend, Kebra Davis, Bryson Gammage; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Ward and Cameron Ward. Brothers, Curtis Smith, Nunez; Cranford Smith, Swainsboro; Perry Smith, Alto; and sister, Ruth Michaud, Copperas Cove, Texas. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 9, 2010, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at Peachtree Baptist Church, Byron. The Reverend's Jay Lauritsin, Jack Deeds and Doug Merck will officiate. Interment will follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to Peachtree Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, Hwy 247 Connector, Byron, Georgia 31008.
