NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C.- Entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Thursday, February 4th, 2010, Mr. James Robert 'J.R.' Rachels, Sr., beloved husband of twenty-nine years to Cecil Neal Rachels and son of Candacy Attaway Rachels, Franklin, GA and the late James B. Rachels. Born in Augusta, GA, and a lifelong area resident, he was a Dry Wall Finisher and was the associate Pastor of Faith Riders Fellowship, Batesburg, SC. A biker through and through and at heart, 'J.R.' enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spreading the word of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through the Faith Riders for Christ Motorcycle Ministry and through nursing home ministries. He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association and prior to his health declining, he enjoyed golfing and fishing. A Vietnam Veteran, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. In addition to his wife and mother, family members include his children, James R. 'Bobby' Rachels, Jr., (Elizabeth) Grovetown, GA, Russell B. Rachels, (Marna) Trenton, SC, Donna A. Albright, (Billy) Hephzibah, GA, Christopher G. Rachels, (Carolyn) North Augusta, SC, Robert W. Morris, (Lori) Fayetteville, NC, Thomas E. Morris, (Michelle) Fayetteville, NC and Nita M. Hutto, North Augusta, SC; siblings, Christine Nolley, (Mike) Franklin, GA and the late Gaylon M. Rachels, eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, February 8th, 2010, at 11 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, SC, with Pastors Bryan Widener, Red Harding and Lamont Roscoe officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC. Pallbearers will be Kevin Johnson, Bobby Roberts, Eddie Roberts, Donnie Miller, Allen Derrick and Tony Derrick. Honorary pallbearers will be fellow bikers with Faith Riders for Christ Motor Cycle Ministry. If so desired, the family has asked that memorials in memory of 'J.R.' be made to Faith Riders Fellowship, 7006 Fairview Ave., Batesburg, SC 29006. Friends may call at the family residence.
