Dea. Woodrow Moore - (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Doctors Hospital, Dea. Woodrow Moore, 90, of Parkway Drive and husband of the late Mrs. Vera Moore. He was born on March 29, 1919 to the late Jim and Violet Moore in Garfield, Georgia. Woodrow was a U.S. Army Veteran, and served during World War II. He retired from Fort Gordon as a truck driver in 1974 after over 20 years of service and from Georgia Railroad Bank and Trust Company in 1969 as a part-time custodian. He expressed his entrepreneurial spirit by owning and operating Moore's Grill on Molly Pond Road, Savannah Road End Luncheon on Savannah Road, and The West End on Wrightsboro Road with his wife. Woodrow was a faithful member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Augusta Georgia., where he served on the Deacon Board. He is a former member of the American Legion Screen Ramsey, Post #505. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Moore, son Jim Moore, four brothers, Bill, Marian, Oliver and Walter, four sisters, Susie Mae, Sarah, Inez, and Eula. Woodrow leaves behind his son, Lonnie (Beverly) Moore, Augusta; three daughters, Violet Milton, Detroit, MI; Dolly (Frank) Jimperson and Vanessa (Charles) White, both of Augusta, GA; a sister, Mary Dowling of Augusta, GA; ten grandchildren, Sherlda and Jocelyn Milton, Detroit, MI; Malcolm Moore, Antonio Jimperson, Travis Jimperson, Deonta Tutt, Kimberly (Dean) Wills, Melany Moore, Vanessa C. White, and Reginald Moore, all of Augusta; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 2 p.m. from Mount Zion Missionary Baptist, 1438 Wrightsboro Road with Rev. Thomas Walker officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olive Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends this evening from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
