NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Entered into rest Wednesday, January 6th, 2010, Mr. Purvis D. Ward, 71, of North Augusta, SC, loving companion of fourteen years to Patricia Tucker and son of the late James Franklin and Edith Deliah King Ward. Born in and a lifelong resident of Aiken County, SC, Purvis retired from the Graniteville Company. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Graniteville, SC. Purvis proudly served his country in the United States Army. Family members include a daughter, Dianne Ward, Aiken, SC; sister, Glenda Hardigg, Esq., Bluffton, SC; nieces, Christine Hardigg, Bluffton, SC and Darlene Livingston, North Augusta, SC and a nephew, Frank Ward, Augusta, GA. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, January 8th, 2010, at 2 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, SC, with Dr. Eleazer Benenhaley officiating. Interment with veterans honors accorded by the United States Army Honor Guard will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC. Pallbearers will be Joe Clary, Robert Livingston, Frank Ward, Richard Tucker, Todd Collum and Bryan Newberry.
