HARLEM, GA - Mr. Hiram Peter 'Pete' Llewellyn, 83, husband of the late Sue Llewellyn, passed away Monday, December 28, 2009 at his residence. Services will be held Sunday, January 3, 2010 at 3:00 PM at the Harlem United Methodist Church with Dr. Tom Drake and the Rev. Roger Vest officiating. Mr. Llewellyn was a native of Chattanooga, TN and a resident of Augusta since 1955 and lived in Harlem since 1983. He was a graduate of Central High School in Chattanooga and a 1949 graduate of the United States Naval Academy. Mr. Llewellyn was a WWII and Korean Veteran. 'Mr. Pete' as he was known to so many was a member of the Harlem United Methodist Church, member of the Dave Sargent Sunday School Class, the church choir and very active in the church Outreach Program. He was the initial organizer of the annual Pumpkin Patch for the church with the proceeds supporting the church Outreach Program. He was a member of the Harlem Lions Club. Mr. Llewellyn was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Sue Martin Llewellyn. Survivors include his son, Martin (Margaret) Llewellyn, Evans, GA; one daughter, Susan (Bryan) Rutledge, Lexington, SC; grandchildren, David Llewellyn, Whitney Ducharme, Nicholas Rutledge and Zachary Rutledge and two great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Harlem United Methodist Church, Outreach Fund, P O Box 39, Harlem, GA 30814.
