Ann K. Curry (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Thursday, December 17, 2009 at Trinity Hospital. Ms. Ann K. Curry of Woodcrest Drive. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from Miles Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church with Reverend Jerry Poole officiating. Interment will be in Southview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in memory of Ms. Ann K. Curry to Miles Memorial C.M.E. Church, 2014 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Augusta, GA 30901. Ms. Ann K. Curry was the daughter of the late John and Ethel Curry, born in Dearing, Georgia. She received her Christian baptism at Butler Street C.M.E. Church in Atlanta, GA. Ms. Curry moved to Augusta in 1946, where she attended Lucy C. Laney High School. Upon graduation, she enrolled in University Hospital's Lamar School of Nursing. Following her training, she worked at University Hospital and later moved to New York, where she was employed at Metropolitan Hospital. After receiving a degree in Neonatology, she was promoted to Assistant Director of Nursing. Ms. Curry not only served as a professional nurse, she pursued an interest in modeling and secured a license in Radio Broadcasting in New York. In 1996, she returned to Augusta and reunited with Miles Memorial where she served with distinction as a Steward, Missionary and Church Secretary. Her community involvement included the Augusta Chaper N.A.A.C.P. and numerous other organizations. The Augusta Chapter of Church Women United honored her for her contributions to her Church and Community and she was honored at the 2009 Men and Women's Day Celebration. Survivors are two sisters, Roberta Curry, Augusta and Sadie Bryant, Tampa, FL; one brother, Claude (Berry) Curry, Boston, MA; four nieces, three nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
