Erma M. Weathers (SARDIS, Ga.)

SARDIS, Ga. - Erma Murray Weathers, age 92, entered into rest on Monday, November 16, 2009, at Burke Medical Center in Waynesboro. She was born in Sardis on May 2, 1917, was a devout Christian who loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart and committed her entire life to his service. She graduated from Sardis High School and after graduating, moved to Savannah. This is where she met her husband on a 'blind date' arranged by a close friend. They were married on August 28, 1946 She was a member of Sardis Baptist Church, the Women's Missionary Society and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She served beside her husband during his ministry and after retirement, they continued their witness through visits in homes, hospitals, churches or anywhere they saw a need. She was preceded in death by her Parents: Lovick and Myrtie Murray; Brother: Emory Murray. Survivors: Loving Husband of 60 years: Clayton Weathers of Sardis; Several Nieces and Nephews. Visitation: Tuesday, November 17, 2009, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services: Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Chapel with Rev. Lamar Holley officiating. Burial at St. Marks Cemetery in Sardis. Pallbearers: Lamar Brinson, Norbert Tobias, Preston Connor, Gerald Murray, Cleckley Reddick, Randy Waters; Honorary Pallbearers: Sardis Baptist Women's Missionary Society, Willing Workers Sunday School Class, Johnny Hight, Donna, Sarah and Trish with Hospice, Gloria Ellison, Betty Clayton, Frankie Blackburn.
