Wilbur Lee (WRENS, Ga.)

WRENS, Ga. - Wilbur E. 'Bill' Lee, Jr., age 74, of Wrens, GA died Saturday, October 31, 2009 at the Charlie Norwood V.A. Medical Center-Uptown Division. Born in Screven County, he was the son of the late Wilbur Lee, Sr. and Mazie Clayton Lee. He was also predeceased by a brother, Warren Lee. He served his country with honor in the United States Army and Army National Guard. He was retired from Wrens Chevrolet. He was an auxiliary Sylvania policeman. Survivors include wife Louise M. Lee; sons D. Keith Lee, Gregory A. Lee and Rodney E. Lee; step-sons K. Dale Simmons, Michael A. Burkhalter, Gregory L. Burkhalter, Phillip W. Burkhalter; step-daughter Tanya D. Buchner; sisters Dorothy Wainwright, Helen Stinson, Linda (Fred) Hendricks and Sue Ann (Dennis) Cooley: aunts Evelyn Cubbedge and Alice Messex, his children's mother Shelvy Jean McDaniel; twenty grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside service will be held 2:30 PM Tuesday November 3, 2009 at Screven Memorial Gardens with Rev. Edwin Taylor officiating. Pallbearers will be Fred Hendricks, Dennis Cooley, Alan Godbee, Mike Godbee, Monty Clayton, Jr. and Alan Norman. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Monday evening at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road, Augusta.
