Clayton Kauffman (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Clayton J. Kauffman, 85, husband of Evelyn Wren Kauffman for 57 years entered into rest Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at the residence. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September, 5, 2009 at 3:00 P.M., in the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with US Army Chaplain Allman and Reverend Rick Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park with full military honors. Mr. Kauffman was preceeded in death by a sister, Isabelle Kovolyak and a grandson Rick Kauffman. Other survivors include his children, Rick Kauffman of Augusta, Kenneth Kauffman and his wife Tina of Hephzibah and Debbi Durden of Augusta; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Bertha Hoffman, Ruby Geist, Shirley Bleanton (Dawson), Patsy De Haven (Dave), June Wolfe, Joyce Heberling (Dave) and Diane Johnston; brothers, Robert Kauffman (Helen), Eugene Kauffman (Eleanor), Donald Kauffman ( Mary Jane), and Philip Kauffman and Larry Kauffman (Lois). He was born in Mahaffey, PA to the late Henry Clayton and Katherine Mae Lee Kauffman. He retired after 26 years in the US Army serving in WWII, Korea and Vietnam Conflicts and was a member of the American Legion Post 192.
