CSM Ervin L. Spruill   (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Sunday, June 28, 2009 at University Hospital after a brief illness. CSM (Ret.) Ervin L. Spruill, Sr. of Bellemeade Drive, husband of Mrs. Helen J. Spruill. CSM Spruill was born November 4, 1933 in Roper, North Carolina to the late Rev. James and Minnie Mae Spruill. A decorated patriot of 50 years (30 years U. S. Army and 20 years Civil Service), CSM Spruill will be celebrated with full military honors on Monday, July 6, 2009 at 11:30 a. m. from Greater Young Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 405 Sand Bar Ferry Road with Reverend Al Robinson, Eulogist. Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 5, 2009 from 5:00 - 7:00p.m. at the funeral home. He was a devoted husband for 53 years to Helen Josephine of New Orleans, LA; a loving father to Vanessa of New York, Kent (Pamela), Ervin Jr. (deceased), Denotra (Malcolm) of Kentucky, and Vicki (Larry) of South Carolina; a proud grandfather to Tamara, Janelle, Macaro (Natasia) of Fort Stewart, Courtney, Trey, Diamond, Gabriel of Kentucky, and Devan; and blessed with greatgrands, Andre, Dante and Laila. CSM Spruill was loved by siblings Ananias (Edna) of New York, Elizabeth (Dennis) Blount of New York, Esau (Betty) of New York, Joseph (deceased), Margaret (Ray, deceased) Downing of North Carolina, and sister-in-law Gladys (Warren, deceased) Augustine of New Orleans; a host of nieces and nephews; infinite friends and acquaintances with special acknowledgement of Denise Hughes, Ida Johnson and CSM (Ret.)
