AUGUSTA, Ga. - William C. (Billy) Cato Sr., husband of Diane W. Cato, father of William C. Cato Jr., the late Todd R. Cato, and Charles W. Cato, entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 26, 2009 at Doctor's Hospital. He was 64 years old. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 27, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta. The funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at 4:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Committal services will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Rev. Jim Johnson and Rev. Roland Smith will officiate. Mr. Cato, the son of the late Mr. George Cato and the late Mrs. Nellie Harrison, was an Augusta native. He was a devoted family man and was loved dearly by his wife, three sons, and two grandsons. He was an employee Kimberly Clark Beech Island plant for 28 years. He was an eleven year heart transplant survivor and a member of Sherwood Baptist Church. Special thanks are extended to the transplant/support teams at MUSC, The Benjamin R. L. Lunn Family, the church family of Sherwood Baptist Church, and Odyssey Hospice Services. Mr. Cato is survived by his wife, Diane Cato, two sons, William Jr. and Charles Cato, and grandsons, Bryce and Christian Cato. He is also survived by siblings Lucile Carroll, Carolyn Murphy, Robert Harrison, Jackie Harrison, Debra Suitor, And Angela Farr and numerous nieces and nephews. Also in his family were the late George Cato Jr. and the late Betty Cato Braddy. Pallbearers are Earl Windham, James Chadwick, David Brown, Charles Enevoldsen, Bart English, Thomas Kilpatrick.
