Grace Marion Rich Neese (EVANS, Ga.)

EVANS, Ga. - Funeral services for Grace Marion Rich Neese, 81, widow of the late Raymond Pearson Neese, will be held 12 noon Thursday, June 18, 2009 in Greenlawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Laverne Hancock officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11am until the hour of the service on Thursday. Serving as pallbearers will be Mrs. Neese's grandsons, Matthew Simoneau, Danny Neese, Brad Neese, Charlie Neese and Wesley Neese. Honorary pallbearers will be the Joy Sunday School Class of Calvary Baptist Church. Mrs. Neese was born in Graham, NC on January 24, 1928, to the late Alton Bradley Rich and Lillie Mae Rich. She was a longtime resident of Columbia, and an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in the choir and Sunday School. She was a master barber and worked with her husband Raymond at Neese's Barber Shop in Dentsville, SC. Mrs. Neese had a lovely sense of humor, and was an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed painting and crafts, was a great cook and had a beautiful singing voice. Surviving are her daughter, Suzanne Simoneau and husband David; daughter-in-law, Carol DuBose (wife of the late Alton "Ray" Neese) and her husband, Harry DuBose; her grandchildren, Shannon Simoneau, Matthew Simoneau, Danny Neese, Brad Neese, Charlie Neese and Wesley Neese; her great-grandchildren, Emma Neese, Madeline Neese, Samuel Neese and Amelia Neese; and her sisters-in-law, Hattie Mae Varner and Dottie Rich. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her son, and her brothers, Elwood Rich and Alton Bradley "Pete" Rich. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Asscociation, 3223 Sunset Blvd, Ste 100, West Columbia, SC 29169.
