Dale L. Benson (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Dale L. Benson, 82, husband of Mrs. Donna L. Benson, entered into rest Thursday, February 5, 2009 at his residence. A memorial service will be held 11a.m., Monday, February 9, 2009 at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection with Pastor David Hunter officiating. Mr. Benson was born in Roberts County, SD to the late Henry and Mabel Benson. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked for the Coleman Company before moving to Augusta in 1967 and worked in sales for Busby's Heating and Air for 25 years before retiring. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, the VFW, American Legion, NRA, a charter member of Pinetucky Skeet Club, and founder of the OFC at Pinetucky. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Benson, and step father, Berger Olstad. Survivors include his wife of 53 years; 3 sons, Michael Dale (Shane) Benson of Lincolnton, GA, David Henry (Carol) Benson of Appling, GA, and Weldon Jeppesen (Tricia) Benson of Bonaire, GA; one daughter, Rebecca Lee Benson of Augusta, GA; 5 grandchildren, Brittany Lee Benson, Kelsey Lauren Benson, Dale Robert Benson, Christopher Ryan Benson, and Haley Ann Benson; brothers, Vernell C. Benson of Vermillion, SD and John (Connie) Benson of Hot Springs, SD; 2 step sisters, Irma (Gene) Cornelius of New Effington, SD and Marlys (Darrell) Nelson of Naples, FL, step brother, Carman (Mavis) Olstad of Hot Springs, SD; sister-in-law, Shirley Benson of Springfield, VA; and several close nieces, nephews, and cousins.
