Frank Blackledge (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Frank Blackledge, 81, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 20, 2009, at Eisenhower Army Medical Center. A memorial service will be held 2 PM on Saturday, January 31, 2009, Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Columbia Road Chapel with Chaplain Steve Munson officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Ceremonial Detachment of Fort Gordon. Survivors include his loving wife, Hilda Blackledge; five children, Jim (Sally) Blackledge of Augusta, Georgia, Joanne (Billy) Rodgers, of Aiken, South Carolina, Frank B. (Lee) Blackledge of Augusta, Georgia, Susan (Eric) Old of Augusta, Georgia, and Sandi (Mark) Huff of Lincolnton, Georgia; a sister, Alva Jenkins of New Jersey; seven grandchildren, Matthew MacPhail, Kristen Dye, Zach Ferguson, David Huff, Eric Old, Jr., Ashley Edwards, and Melissa Wilson; and fifteen great grandchildren. Mr. Blackledge served in the United States Army for 25 years. He had service during World War II, Korean War, and the Vietnam Conflict. After his retirement from the military, he worked with Pinkerton Security for 30 years. He was also a member of VFW Post 3200.
