Richard D. Netzley (EVANS, Ga.)

EVANS, Ga. - Mr. Richard David Netzley, Sr., went to his maker on January 19, 2009. He was a resident of Brandon Wilde in Evans, Ga. He has gone to join his loving wife and faithful companion of over 60 years, Hilda Schubert Netzley (deceased). Mr. Netzley was born in Laura, Ohio on January 23, 1924 and grew up there. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. During his career, he worked as a civil servant for the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy, and was stationed at various locations around the world. To recognize his accomplishments, the Governor of Guam named him to the Ancient Order of the Chamorri in 1969. He retired in 1985. He was an avid dancer and musician throughout his life. He leaves his immediate family consisting of two sons, Dr. Richard Jr. (Ann) of Boynton Beach, Fla. and Geoffrey (Elaine) of North Augusta, S.C. His grandchildren are Jennifer of Columbia, S.C. and Richard III, Ryan, and Alexander of Boynton Beach, Fla. Mr. Netzley also leaves a brother, Robert (Marjorie) of Laura, Oh; and nieces and nephews who are Dr. Kathleen Bronson, Carol Coate, and Dr. Robert, all of Ohio. Mr. Netzley will be interred in Laura, Ohio next to his beloved wife, Hilda. Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to the Salvation Army. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
