Leonard M. Fletcher (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Leonard Milton Fletcher, Sr., husband of the late Elvira 'Kitty' Anderson Fletcher, entered into rest Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at his residence. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 4, 2008, at 3:00 P.M. from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Chaplain Dexter Lambert officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mr. Fletcher was born in Augusta to the late Robert Edward and Minnie Pearl Agner Fletcher. He retired from E.I. Dupont in 1978. His hobby of rebuilding cars and trucks was what he enjoyed doing after his retirement. The shop was a gathering place for his sons, other family and friends on the weekend. Additional survivors include, his sons Leonard M. Fletcher, Jr., of Grovetown, Daniel 'Eddie' Fletcher of Augusta and David W. Fletcher of Beech Island, SC; daughters, Louise 'Toni' Fletcher of Martinez, Brenda E. Miller of Augusta and Miriam 'Pete' Herrin of Appling; sister, Elizabeth Duffie of Augusta; 18 grandchildren and 19 great- grandchildren and his special friend Betty Lowe. Active pallbearers will be Thomas Anthony Brown, John Paul Lemon, Jr., Dean Alan Brown, III, Thomas David Tabb, Jr., Leonard Milton Fletcher, III, and Kevin Kandt. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Harkins and Mack McCoy. If so desired memorial contributions can be made to Trinity Hospice 2260 Wrightsboro Road Augusta, GA 30904. The family wishes to acknowledge with gratitude the loving care given to Mr. Fletcher through his illness by nurses especially his daughter-in-law Theresa Fletcher and Lillie, Amy and Carolyn of Trinity Hospice.
