GROVETOWN, Ga. - Mr. Bruce Autry, 56, passed away Monday, December 1, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. K. C. Stevens and Rev. Ron Hankal officiating. Burial will follow at Harlem Memorial Cemetery. Bruce was a bus driver for 11 years with Columbia County and previously worked for 26 years at The Graniteville Company. He was a devoted member of Trinity Baptist Church for over 22 years where he served as a bus driver for various church outings, sang in the choir, and lovingly helped with the children in Discipleland. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Autry; daughter, Lisa Hankal; brother, William Autry; two sisters, Zena Schiller and Sarah Woods; two grandchildren, Colton and Dylan Hankal; four step-children, Frances Key, Christine Reece, Shirley Drake, and Gerald Wren; ten step-grandchildren, Shannon Meadows, Dawn Rogers, David Key, Elaine Thompson, Heather Stringfield, Timothy Walls, Barbara Ann Benton, Crystal Johnson, Parker Wren, and Spencer Wren; numerous step-great-grandchildren. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, James and Gladys Autry; and two brothers, Sandy and Arthur Autry. Pallbearers will be Wayne Eubanks, Steve Duckworth, Rev. Rick Slagle, Brian Hankal, Tony Autry, and Jeb Schiller. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Key, Clifford Young, and Gerald Wren. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 4255 Columbia Road, Martinez, Georgia. The family wishes to express their humble appreciation to Terri Levy of Heartland Hospice and Dr. Amanda May for the care and compassion shown to Bruce and his family during his illness.
