AUGUSTA, Ga. - Jess Donald Jones, 60, son of deceased Frank Leadom Jones and Elsa Martin Jones, entered into rest on Saturday, September 13, 2008, at his residence. Mr. Jones, born in Costa Rica, was graduated from Aquinas High School in 1967, served in the United States Navy for two years and was in the active Navy Reserve and the National Guard for four years. A member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, he worked, most recently, for Augusta Mall. A lifelong Dodgers fan, Mr. Jones regularly attended both Atlanta Braves' games and Augusta Green Jackets' games. He was a fan of history, sports, and astronomy. Mr. Jones is survived by two brothers, James Laird Jones (wife, Debbi) of Augusta, Michael Harry Jones (wife, Susan) of Fayetteville, GA, and one sister, Elaine Jones Black (husband, Henry) of Blythe. He was uncle to David and Lindsay Jones, Douglas and Tess Black, and Rachel Jones. The family gratefully acknowledges the invaluable assistance of Hospice nurses Rosemary Matthews and Dee Campbell and caregivers, Claudia Bolton and Lucy Smith. A short memorial service will be held at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, on Friday, September 19, 2008 at 5:30 P.M., after which the family will greet visitors.
