Charles D. Nelson (GROVETOWN, Ga.)

GROVETOWN, Ga. - Entered into rest Saturday, August 2, 2008, Mr. Charles D. Nelson, 74, husband of Jeannie Sinko-Nelson. Mr. Nelson was a native of Elmira, NY and had resided in the Augusta area for the past 39 years. He was a US Navy Veteran who proudly served on the USS WASP and was a member of the USS WASP Reunion Group. Mr. Nelson retired as Columbia County Construction Manager, was a member of the John S. Davidson Masonic Lodge #677 F&AM, the Scottish Rite Bodies, and a Shriner. Mr. Nelson was also a member of the American Legion and Church of the Holy Comforter. Family members in addition to his wife include his brothers and sister-in-law: George and Jean Sinko of Fort Myers, FL, Merle Sinko of Elmira, NY and a sister: Mary Brown of Horseheads, NY. On behalf of Holy Comforter, funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at 11:00 A.M., at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 4232 Evans to Locks Rd., Martinez, with Rev. Dr. Cynthia N. Taylor and Rev. Dr. Joe Bowden officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Church of the Holy Comforter Building Fund, 1105 Fury's Lane, Suite C, Martinez, GA 30907.
