AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. William Andrew Minter, an Augusta resident, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, July 8, 2008. He was 78 years old. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 11, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at The Poteet Funeral Homes, South Chapel, 3465 Peach Orchard Road. The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Larry Harmon will officiate. Pallbearers will be Travis Curtis Williford, Hollis Curtis Williford, Eugene L. Minter Jr., Joseph Thomas Minter, Perry Tyson Royal and Henry Lee Royal II. Committal services will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mr. Minter was of the Baptist faith. He was proud to be a veteran of the United States Army where he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal. Prior to his retirement, he was a contractor for the United States Postal Service. Mr. Minter loved his family, they were everything to him. Mr. Minter was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas Minter and Urah B. Booth Minter, his daughter, Andrea Lynn Minter in 1965, and several brothers and sisters. Mr. Minter is survived by his wife, Gladys Hilda Mercer Minter; his daughters, Angela Teresa Minter, Sherry Lynn Minter Williford and her husband Hollis Curtis Williford; brothers, Eugene L. Minter Sr., Joseph H. Minter, and John E. Minter; grandchildren, Kelsey Lauren Williford, Travis Curtis Williford, and Kyle Roderick Williford.
