MARTINEZ, Ga. - Carroll L. 'Ace' Norton, 77, of Martinez, Ga., died Sunday, June 22, 2008 in a Chattanooga, Tenn. hospital. A native of Bon Aire, Ala., he lived in Augusta, Ga. most of his life. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Leona Norton; daughter, Susan Johnson and husband, Steve, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; son, Trell Norton and wife, Kathy, of Powder Springs, Ga.; grandson, Michael Johnson and wife, Leslie, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; granddaughter, Stephanie Johnson of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews who he was very close to. Ace retired from Postal Service as Postmaster of New Ellington, S.C. and Jackson, S.C. He was retired Master Sergeant with US Air Force. Ace was very active in Amateur Radio. He was a key person of information of the CSRA Repeater Association in 1983 and provided his knowledge and leadership to help establish the Columbia County Amateur Radio Club. Ace was known as NA4I and W4WTA. Ace also loved the Atlanta Braves and played golf. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 11, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. at Abilene Baptist Church, Martinez, Ga., with the Rev. Bill Harrell officiating. Visitation is at 5:30 p.m. at the church.
