Virginia Steadman (WILLISTON, S.C.)

WILLISTON, S.C. - Funeral service for Virginia Goff Steadman, 84, of Williston will be held five p.m., Thursday, July 3 at Williston United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from three-thirty p.m. until the time of service at the church on Thursday with burial in The Williston Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Justin Michael Steadman, Joe Thad Coleman, Jr., Kevin William Coleman, Robert Lee Steadman, Jr., Lonnie Terry Westbrook, Jr., James Grafton Westbrook and Nevin Richard Goff. Folk Funeral Home of Williston, SC is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be sent to Williston United Methodist Church, 6030 Springfield Rd., Williston, SC 29853. Mrs. Steadman died suddenly on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at her home. Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late Jimmie Goff and Lillian Tessier Goff and was married to the late James Earl Steadman, Sr. She was a devoted member of the Williston United Methodist Church. She attended Hollywood High School in Saluda where she was the Valedictorian of her class and a member of the Future Homemakers of America, and won a trip to Chicago as the winning contestant of the 4-H State Poultry Contest. She also attended Winthrop College, Mrs. Steadman worked at Bud Berma where she was a supervisor and retired from Dixie-Narco in Williston. She was an excellent seamstress. She loved her family and friends dearly and enjoyed cooking for everyone. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Shelby Steadman and Joe Thad Coleman, Sr. of Saluda, Deborah Steadman and Lonnie Terry Westbrook, Sr., of Aiken; sons and daughters-in-law, James Earl and Brenda Brady Steadman, Jr., of Williston, Robert Lee and Elaine Greene Steadman, Sr. of Montmorenci, Van Norman and Barbara Cauthen Steadman of Varnville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Arthur Laymond and Catherine Wertz Goff of Winnsboro, SC, James Edward and Caroline Ruff Goff of Littleton, NC, and Charles Lynn and Barbara McGee Goff of Fayetteville, NC; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
