Robert Lee Gentry (NEW ELLENTON, S.C.)

NEW ELLENTON, S.C. - Funeral services for Mr. Robert Lee Gentry, 89, of Fairway Drive, New Ellenton, SC, who entered into rest April 19, 2008, will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the St. Paul United Methodist Church Family Life Center. Rev. C. Brian Gilmer officiating. Interment in St. Paul Church Cemetery. Mr. Gentry was a native of Cookeville, Tennessee having made the Aiken-New Ellenton area his home for the past 56 years. He was a member of the Old Hickory Church of Christ, Old Hickory, Tennessee and the Old Hickory Masonic Lodge. Mr. Gentry was a US Coast Guard Veteran of World War II, retired as a Welding Inspector with E. I. DuPont Company at Savannah River Plant with 38 years of service and taught Welding at Augusta and Aiken Tech. He was the son of the late Herman Andrew Gentry and Alva Masters Gentry. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary Elizabeth Gentry; three daughters and sons-in-law, Melinda and Jimmy Brinkley, New Ellenton, Beth and Carey Davis, Rutherfordton, NC and Susan Gentry, Seaford, DE; a brother, Edward Gentry, Linn Creek, MO; a sister, Dorisse Gibson, Kennett Square, PA; two grandchildren, Melanie Hamer and Eric T. Brinkley; three great-grandchildren, Denton Hamer, Leighton Hamer and Brighton Hamer. The family will receive friends at the St. Paul United Methodist Church Family Life Center Monday evening from 6 to 8.
