WAYNESBORO, Ga. - It is with great sadness that we have to record the untimely death of William Walker Key. At a mere 24 years of age it is a great sorrow that one so young and with life so full of high hopes should be cut off so suddenly and so unexpectedly. He was a fine young man with a true admiration for our Lord, and we can not understand the Hand of our all wise Maker in cutting down our young son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend so prematurely. William, the son of Chris and Brenda Kennedy of Waynesboro, entered into rest Friday, March 21, 2008, at the Medical College of Georgia. A native of Beaufort, SC, he was born June 17, 1983. He had lived most of his life in Waynesboro where he attended Edmund Burke Academy and went on to graduate from the Paul Anderson Youth Home in 2002. He was an active member of Greens Cut United Methodist Church where he played a much appreciated role in the youth Sunday School and other youth activities. He enjoyed hunting, fly fishing with his cousin, and being an avid Georgia Bulldog fan. He enjoyed watching football with his father and friends. He was a young man of great promise and was just beginning life's journey. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Roger and Ramona Kennedy; and his maternal grandfather, Jessie Joiner. In addition to his mother and father, other family members include four brothers, Will Reynolds, of Newington, Ga.; Wayne Waters, Nicholas Kennedy, and Dillon Kennedy, of Waynesboro; sister, Stacy Forehand, also of Newington; maternal grandmother, Beatrice Joiner of Newington, GA; aunts and uncles, Karen Kennedy of Waynesboro, Jessie Joiner, Jr. (Rosemary) of Aiken, S C, Billie Boykin (Donnie) of Newington, GA, Benny Joiner (Linda) of Midville, GA, Pat Keel, (the late Larry Keel) of Martinez, GA, Shirley Powell (Billy) of Sylvania, and Kathy Sheffield of Sylvania; and many cousins. The family wishes to receive strength and encouragement from friends Tuesday, March 25, 2008, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at DeLoach Funeral Home, in Waynesboro, Ga.. Friends may also call at the home of Chris and Brenda to offer their love and support. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of DeLoach Funeral Home, Waynesboro. Dr. Francis Ford will be officiating. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Newington City Cemetery, Newington, GA., where he will enter into eternal sleep, being laid to rest next to his maternal grandfather. Pallbearers will be William's first cousins, Don and Kris Boykin, Ben Joiner, Tre' Evans, and Brooks and Todd Sheffield. Let us bow in humble submission to the will of God "Who doeth all things well" and say "Sleep on dear William and take thy rest, God called thee Home, He thought it best".
