Vivian Serbedzija (HAMILTON, Ga.)

HAMILTON, Ga. - Vivian Fay Clements Serbedzija, 64, of Hamilton, Ga., entered into rest at Columbus Hospice House on Saturday, March 22, 2008. A memorial service will be held at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Hephzibah, Ga. at a later date, according the McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA. Mrs. Serbedzija was born November 28, 1943 in Augusta, Ga., daughter of the late Agnes Anderson Clements and Lidie Dorn Clements. She moved to Columbus in 1977 and remained in the area. In 1987, she founded the Chattahoochee Valley Arthritis Club and the American Flag Run, a support group and fund-raising event to help local people suffering from the disease. She served as president of both for five years, during which time she created "Pain Pals," a program designed to pair up victims of chronic pain in order to help each other through difficult phases. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by brothers, Jerry Herman Clements and Ronald Herbert Clements and grandson, Alan Bruce Bell. Surviving her departure with loving and cherished memories are her husband, George Serbedzija of Hamilton, Ga.; son, Gordon Eugene Britt of Augusta, Ga.; daughters, Gina Britt Bell of Ten Mile, Tenn. and Sarah "Sam" Britt Shehane of Columbus, Ga.; beloved grandchildren, Brian Bell and Logan Bell both of Ten Mile, Tenn., and Rachel Shehane, Matthew Shehane, and Sarah Shehane all of Columbus, Ga.; sisters, Jackie Craft of Lawton, Okla., Nancy Walters of Hephzibah, Ga., and Becky Evans of LaGrange, Ga.; brother, Lidie Joseph Clements of Martinez, Ga.; and many other family members and dear friends.
