Clarence J. Carthern (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Augusta Hills, Mr. Clarence Joseph "Mr. C" Carthern of Sullivan Road. Funeral mass will be held Monday, March 24, 2008 at 12:15 p.m. from Church of the Most Holy Trinity with Father Michael Lubinsky officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olive Memorial Gardens. Mr. Carthern was a native of Augusta and a member of Church of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School Class of 1965 and had retired from the Richmond County Board of Education as a bus driver and was employed at Fat Man's for many years. Mr. Carthern served in the United States Army and was a business owner. Survivors are his daughter, Shawanna Mosley; son, Tavares Freeman, Sr.; two sisters, Detris (Jerry) Gilchrist-Coley and Mary (Ramon) Mass; a play sister, Juanita Moore; daughter-in-law, Dawn Hobbs-Johnson; seven grandchildren, Whitney and Byran Johnson, Marcus Hall, Candace Mosley, Tishika Smith, Tavont'e Hawes and Tavares Freeman, Jr.; sister-in-law, Karen Wilson; god mother, Elizabeth Brown; two god sons, Roy Lee and Alexander Jones; five close cousins, Charlie Pugh, Melvin Pugh, Johnny Carthern, Wilbur Faust and James Barnes; a close friend, Johnnie Henderson and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
