Hubert Thomas Lovett (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Thursday, February 14, 2008, Dr. Hubert Thomas Lovett, 64, husband of Mrs. Melvis Bowie Lovett. Dr. Lovett was a native and long time resident of Augusta. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He received a Bachelor in English from Augusta College, Masters in Educational Psychology from University of Georgia, Doctor of Education from UGA and an Educational Specialist Degree from Augusta College. Dr. Lovett taught at Mississippi State University as a full Professor for 15 years in Educational psychology and statistics and from 1985 until 2004 was a School Psychologist for the Richmond County Board of Education. Dr. Lovett was also a member of St. Ignatius of Antioch Church. He is a past member of Fleming Masonic Lodge #718 and is a current member of the Albert Lodge No. 89 in Starkville, MS. Family members in addition to his wife include his son and daughter-in-law: Perrin and Cecilia Lovett; granddaughter: Alexandra Michelle Lovett of Martinez; sister-in-law: Sally Lovett resides in Charleston, SC. Dr. Lovett was preceded in death by his parents: Horace Claude and Vivian Mobley Lovett and his brother: H.C. Lovett, Jr. The family is grateful for the services of Trinity Hospice. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Fr. Miguel Grave de Peralta officiating. Pallbearers will be Derek Denard, Donald Denard, Ed Sanderson, Steve Honeycutt and Nick Mellinger. Honorary pallbearers will be Fleming Lodge #718 F & A M. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to St. Ignatius of Antioch Church, 1003 Merry St., Augusta, GA 30904.
