TACOMA, Wash. - Retired Sgt. First Class Percy Leroy Sturgis, Sr. entered into rest Monday, January 28, 2008 at home in Tacoma, Wash. He was born April 27, 1946 in Augusta, Ga. to the late Theodore and Lelia Sturgis, Sr. He graduated from Lucy Laney High School in 1964. He was a member of Beulah Grove Baptist Church and served in The United State Army and retired after 21 years and made his home in Tacoma. Graveside services will be held on Monday, February 4, 2008 at 12:45 p.m. at Tahoma National Cemetery in Covinton, Wash. He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving wife, Zenna B. Sturgis; two sons, Percy L. Sturgis, Jr. and Bernard Sturgis; three daughters, Renay Hernton, Cassandra (Willie) Howard and Robin Blackmon; four brothers, Theodore Sturgis, Jr., Willie (Josephine) A. Sturgis, Sr., Cornelious (Dorothy) Sturgis, Sr. of Augusta and Earl (Fran) Sturgis of Washington, D.C.; three sisters, Thelma Bryant, Idell Randall of Augusta and Ola Mae (Carlton) Marshall of Mira Loma, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Marie Row of Augusta; 15 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
