AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Patrick W. Runyan, 70, beloved husband of Stella Runyan, entered into rest on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at his residence. A funeral service with full military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at Platt's Funeral Home Crawford Avenue Chapel with the Rev. George Foster officiating. Burial to follow at Westview Cemetery. Mr. Runyan served his country for 22 Ú years in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He also was employed for 25 years with the City of Augusta Richmond County Fire Department. He was a member of VFW 132, Legion Post 205, a lifetime member of the NCOA, and also a member of the USABC Bowling Association. Mr. Runyan was of the Catholic faith. He also loved bowling and fishing. Mr. Runyan will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his loving wife of 47 years, Mr. Runyan is survived by his two sons, Phillip Runyan of Phoenix, Ariz. and Donald Ward of North Augusta; one daughter-in- law, Jamie Ward of Martinez; seven grandchildren, Blythe Blackwell of North Augusta, Richie Ward of Jackson, Tenn., Cory Ward of North Augusta, Heather Donaldson, Alexandra Ward, and Miriam Ward all of Martinez, and Patricia Runyan of Ocayla, Calif.; twelve great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Runyan was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Jewel Runyan; his sister, Mary Gay Griver; and his son, Richard R. Ward. Active pallbearers will be members of the United States Army Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Augusta Richmond County Fire Department.
