AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest on Monday, December 31, 2007 at Kentwood Nursing Home, Mrs. Mary Helen Farmer Sweat, loving wife of Edgar M. Sweat. Other family members include her daughter: Edra S. Adams (Robb) of Evans, sons: Keith Sweat (Ellen); Craig Sweat (Mindy) both of Alpharetta, Ga., brothers: George P. Farmer (Helen) of Birmingham, Al.; William S. Farmer Jr. (Peggy) of Greenville, SC., six grandchildren: Nathan (Jamie) Adams, Samuel Adams, Aaron Adams, Zack Sweat, Alison Sweat and Annie Sweat. Mrs. Sweat attended North Greenville Jr. College and was a graduate of Furman University. She was a first grade teacher before becoming a full time homemaker and mother. Mrs. Sweat for over 50 years had the joy of teaching children and women's Sunday school classes. She was a devoted mother to her children, loving helpmate to her husband and loyal friend. Mrs. Sweat lived out the teaching of Titus 2 and became a wise and kind mentor to many women who sought her counsel. She was also well known for sharing her wonderful talent of cooking with anyone in need of the comfort of a home cooked meal. Though she will be missed by family and friends she leaves a legacy of love and faithful service to God that will benefit many generations to come. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 3, at 12:30 PM at Warren Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Doss, and Rev. Harry Michaels officiating.
