G. E. Williamson (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. G. E. Williamson, age 87, of Augusta, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 13 at 11:30 a.m. from Spring Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Brinkley officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be at 4 p.m. from Effingham Memorial Gardens in Springfield, Ga. Pallbearers will be Steve Haynes, Carl Haynes, Brent Haynes, Kenny Courson, Trevor McDonald, and Duwayne King. Visitation will be Thursday at Spring Branch Baptist Church from 10:30 a.m. until the funeral hour. Mr. Williamson was born January 1, 1920 in Emanuel County to the late George and Rosie Hewett Williamson. He was a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church and was a retired Farmer and School Bus Driver. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and had resided in Augusta for the past four years. Survivors include his wife, Isabell Altman Williamson of Augusta; daughter and son-in-law, Betty Ann and Howard Murphy of Guyton, Ga.; two sons and daughters-in- law, Don and Karon Williamson of Augusta and Herman and Paula Williamson of Guyton, Ga.; three sisters, Alvonia Courson of Hazlehurst, Ga., Almedia Crosby and Lucille Odom, both of Baxley, Ga.; two brothers, Willie Williamson and Ronald Williamson, both of Baxley, Ga.; ten grandchildren, two great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
