WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Chloe Anne Middleton Fain passed away the morning of December 4, 2007 at her home. She was born in Winston-Salem on June 10, 1934 the daughter of Woodford Randolph Middleton and Myrtle Whitman Middleton. She was a graduate of R.J. Reynolds High School and Meredith College in Raleigh N.C., was a charter member of Knollwood Baptist Church and a past member of Westwood Garden Club. Following graduation from College, she was employed by Merrill, Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Beane as a Secretary. After stopping work to raise a family, Anne later returned to work as a Teachers Aide in hearing impaired classes at Whitaker and Latham Elementary schools. Later she obtained her Real Estate license and worked with Nading Realty, Helms-Parrish (Prudential) and Paragon Properties. Of all Anne's accomplishments, she loved being a Mother and a Grandmother more than anything. She was preceded in death by her mother and father and brother Woodford Randolph (WR or Wood) Middleton Jr. Surviving are two sons, John Middleton Fain and wife, Mary, of Augusta, Ga., David Rhea Fain and wife, Sherrie, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; two granddaughters, Mary Ellen Middleton Fain and Sarah Elizabeth Fain of Augusta Ga., and two grandsons, James Kent Fain and William Bouldin Fain of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one sister, Mrs. Wade T. (Nancy) Surratt of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one brother, John Robert Middleton and wife, Betsy, of Clemmons, and one sister-in-law, Barbara 'Bobbie' Lee Middleton of Winston-Salem, N.C. and, several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at Knollwood Baptist Church, Winston- Salem, N.C. at 2:00 pm Friday December 7th, followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00pm. A private graveside service for family will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Knollwood Baptist Church, 330 Knollwood Street, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27104 or to a charity of the donors' choice.
