John Wesley Brooker (SANDERSVILLE, Ga.)

SANDERSVILLE, Ga. - Mr. John Wesley "Jack" Brooker, age 79, of 259 North Harris Street in Sandersville, died Tuesday, December 4 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 7 in the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. Mr. Brooker was a life long resident of Washington County, the son of the late Dr. McLaurin DeWees Brooker and the late Mary Shinholser Brooker. Mr. Brooker was the husband of the late Jane May Brooker. He was retired from the United States Postal Service and had been affiliated with Brooker Business Products. Mr. Brooker attended Georgia Military Academy, Mercer College, and Middle Georgia College. He was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity at Mercer University. Mr. Brooker was a member and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Sandersville. He was a Marine Veteran of the Korean Conflict and had received his 50 year award as a member of the Hamilton Masonic Lodge #58 of Sandersville. Survivors are a daughter, Phoebe (Brad) Brooker Kennedy of Sandersville; two sons, John McLaurin (Luanne) Brooker and David Hutchinson (Leigh Anne) Brooker both of Sandersville; seven grandchildren, John McLaurin Brooker, Jr., Michael Wesley (Julie) Brooker, Christian Brooker Kennedy, McLaurin Wesley Kennedy, Caleb Hutchinson Brooker, Kathleen May Brooker, and Cannon Thomas Brooker; two great-grandchildren, Bo Wesley Brooker and Jackson Marshall Brooker. The family will receive friends at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. David Brooker, North Harris Street in Sandersville, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening.
