James Paul Tarver (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Thursday, November 15, 2007, at Windermere Nursing Home, Mr. James Paul Tarver, Sr., 85, of Augusta. Mr. Tarver was a native of Lyons, GA. He served 2 terms as 5th Ward Augusta City Councilman from January 1989 until December 1995. He also served on the Committee for Good Government. Mr. Tarver retired from Radio Cab and was an honorary Deputy Sheriff of Richmond County. Family members include his daughters: Gloris T. Gordon, Paula T. Miller, Fay T. Ratcliff, Rhonda L. Jones; 9 grandchildren: Dana Jones, Lecia Padgett, DeAnna Pearson, Tina Miller, Charles Miller, Amber Wren, Rachel Ratcliff, Ryan Ratcliff and Tiffany Ratcliff and 15 great-grandchildren. Mr. Tarver was preceded in death by his son: James Paul Tarver, Jr. and grandson: Robert T. Miller. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 19, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Jones Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Charles D.T. Miller and Pastor Donnie Crosswhite officiating. Interment will follow in West View Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1899 Central Ave., Augusta, GA 30904.
