Henry B. Chavous (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Henry "Bostick" Chavous, II, 74, husband of Rachel Clark Chavous, entered into rest Sunday, August 12, 2007 at the residence after a battle with Bladder Cancer. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Reverend Tracy Pressley officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Union Church Cemetery. Mr. Chavous was born in Augusta to the late Milton and Mary Broome Chavous. He was a Tractor Dealer for 49 years in the Augusta area and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church, VFW Post 205 and the Augusta Bowling Association Hall of Fame and bowled in the American Bowling Congress National Tournament for 39 consecutive years. Additional survivors include his son, Henry Bostick "Hank" Chavous, III and wife Kay; and his daughter, Mary Sarver and husband Ken all of Evans; brothers, Sonny Chavous and his wife Jewel and B.B. Chavous and his wife Peggy all of Augusta; four grandchildren, Henry Bostick "HB" Chavous, IV, Brooke Sarver, Kaylyn Chavous, and Blake Sarver. Active Pallbearers will be Alan Birchfield, Morgan Jones, Pope Turner, Mike Graham, Scott Davis, and Bill Bonnette. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Augusta Bowling Association Hall of Fame members. Memorials may be made to the Fleming Baptist Church Building Fund, 3027 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, Ga. 30906.
