AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. John Edward James, Sr. beloved husband of 56 years of the late Mrs. Ella Hardy James answered the call to go to his heavenly home on Friday March 16, 2007 at the Veterans Administration Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 19, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Platt's Belair Road Chapel with the Rev. Jack Crane and the Rev. Jonathan Randall officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Mr. James adored his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family, and his friends. He loved to garden and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with everyone. Mr. James worked as an engineer with CSX until his retirement. He was also a very patriotic man who loved his country and served his country proudly for 17 months in the Korean Conflict with the United States Army. Mr. James was a member of Morning Star Congregational Holiness Church. Mr. James is survived by his three sons, JohnJames Jr., and his wife, Kathy, of Grovetown, Timothy James, and wife, Ateena, of North Augusta, and Clifford James of Baker, LA., her two daughters, Cathie James McNutt, and husband, Gerald, of Grovetown and Susan James of Grovetown, his brothers, George Washington James, Jr., Thomas James, and Leonard James, and his sisters, Gloria Holley, Virginia Carlisle, and Patricia Copeland. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Mr. James was preceded in death by his parents, George Washington James, Sr. and Nellie Mazelle James, his brother, Haywood James, and a grandson, Benjamin Matthew James. Pallbearers will be Kerry Harmon, Lamar Rollins, Doug James, Darryl James, George James, III, and Rick Bussey. Platt's Funeral Home, 337 N. Belair Road.
