Eula J. West (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Ms. Eula Mae Jones West, age 56, entered into rest on Friday morning, January 26th 2007 at Heartland Hospice Hospital. Her funeral services will be Wednesday, January 31st at 11:00 a.m. at B.A. Williams Memorial Chapel. A native of Waynesboro, Ga., she had been resident of St. Petersburg, Fla. since 1988 and returned to Augusta in the fall of 2006. Throughout her entire life, Ms. West was a devoted daughter, granddaughter, niece and cousin. Most importantly, she was a dedicated, loving, fierce and untiring fighter for her three sons - being a mother was her life. Despite being a single mother for most of her adult life, Ms. West managed to earn several degrees and certifications, which include a high school diploma from Blakeney High School in Waynesboro, GA, a Nursing School LPN license, an Associate degree from St. Petersburg Junior College, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work and Master of Science degree in Library Science, both from The University of South Florida. Survivors include her son, Desmoine West, his fiance Pamela Watkins; her son, Ka'juel J. Washington, his wife, Tashia and their three daughters, Ke'arrah, Ke'imani and Ke'ashanti; her son, Donovan Vandergriff; her father, James Jones; her half-sister, Seletha Gayle Jones; two aunts, Fannie Bell and Irene Powell; a cousin, friend and loving caregiver, Mary Hankerson, as well as a host of other close and loving cousins, friends and fellow members of The Cruise Control Club.
