AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Eugene 'Papa' Hendrix, 72, husband of Mrs. Clarie Carter Hendrix, entered into rest Friday, January 26, 2007 at Heartland Hospice. Graveside services will be held in Hillcrest Memorial Park on Monday, January 29, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. with the Reverend Steven Burdette and Pastor Earl Carter officiating. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the grave. Mr. Hendrix was preceded in death by his son Michael Hendrix. Others surviving Mr. Hendrix include his sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Susan Hendrix of Langley, SC, Bernard and Cathy Hendrix of Harlem, GA; step son, Billy Dixon of Wrightsville, GA; brothers, Meredith, Herman and Donald Hendrix all of Augusta; grandchildren, Jamie Hendrix, Brooke Hendrix, Robin Taylor, Jeremiah Hendrix, Laurie Hendrix, Cheyenne Hendrix, Brianna Hendrix, Michelle Phillips and Ginger Dixon; three great grandchildren, Kolby Hendrix, Hannah Mutimer and Mary Alice Hendrix; as well as other family members, Mark and Traci Brown and their daughter, Katie of Perkins, GA. Mr. Hendrix, a native Augustan, was the son of the late Warren and Francis Parkman Hendrix. He had been a meat cutter for the Variety Curb Market in downtown Augusta before going to work in the Beaming Room of the Graniteville Company. He was a friend to everyone that he met and of the Baptist faith. The family will receive friends this Sunday from 3:00 until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
