William R. Wege (LOUISVILLE, Ga.)

LOUISVILLE, Ga. - Dr. William R. Wege of Louisville, Ga. died Sunday, January 14, 2007. He was born March 31, 1926 in Shawno, Wisconsin. Dr. Wege served as an Aviation Cadet with the U.S. Army Air Corp. during World War II. He graduated from Marquette University School of Dentistry in 1952 and was in private practice until 1964. He received a Master's Degree in Oral Maxillo Radiology from the University of Alabama and in 1967 he accepted an appointment as Associate Professor and Chairman of Dental Radiology at MCG in Augusta. In 1988, he retired from MCG as Full Professor and Chairman of the Admissions Dept. Among his many academic appointments, community activities, and professional organizations were the Boy Scouts of America, American Cancer Society, Georgia Dental Assoc., and the American Academy of Dental Radiology. He had published 23 scientific articles and papers and presented over 100 scientific programs both nationally and internationally. Survivors include his wife, Doris Mohr Wege of Louisville; sister and brother-in-law, Chris and Marve Steinke of De Pere, Wis.; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. W.E. Wege and Carol of Hinesville; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Dr. Calvin Dudley of Albuquerque, N.M.; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dr. Chip Pritchard of Louisville; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. January 18. Father Ron Sutherland will officiate at St. Mary Magdaline Episcopal Church in Louisville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Boy Scouts of America or the American Cancer Society. Interment will follow at the Ga.
