AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Richard W. Burnett, Sr., 83, husband of the late Ruth Outley Burnett, entered into rest on Sunday, January 14, 2007 at the Veteran's Administration Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at 1:00 PM at Platt's Crawford Avenue Chapel with the Rev. H.K. McKnight and the Rev. Kelly McKnight officiating. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Mr. Burnett was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Navy, who served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a dedicated member of Bible Deliverance Temple, and was active in adult and men's organizations in the church. He was also a member of American Legion Jack C. Fortune Post 205. He'll be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and will be greatly missed. He is survived by a son, Richard W. Burnett, Jr, and wife, Lauren O'Brien Burnett, a daughter, Vicki B. Green, and husband, Andrew R. Green, a sister, Clara Stubbs, four grandchildren, Brad Green, Richard W. Burnett III, and wife, Heather, Coleen Matthews and husband, Sean, and Brooke Martin and husband, Tony. In addition, he is also survived by his five great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Brad Green, Andrew Green, Richard W. Burnett, III, Billy D. Outley, James F. Burnett, Jr., Sean Matthews, and Tony Martin.
