Freddie Elam (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Freddie Williams Elam of Mike Padgett Highway, wife of the late Alexander Elam, entered into rest on Thursday, January 4, 2007 at University Hospital. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Gilbert Lambuth Chapel, Paine College with Rev. Glasper Nero officiating. Burial will be at Spirit Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Elam, a native of Columbia County, was retired from Richmond County Board of Education. As a longtime member of Spirit Creek Baptist Church, she sang on the Senior Choir, served on the Missionary Society and Sunday School, and was past Youth Church Advisor. Survivors are one daughter, Sylvia Elam, Augusta; two sons, Terry (Patricia) Elam, Augusta, Richard (Linda) Elam, Bulls Head City, Arizona; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one sister, Cora King, Los Angeles, California; sisters-in-law, Lillian Williams, Augusta, Ida Elam, Germantown, Pa., Henrietta Williams, Palm Day, Fla.; God-daughter, Lillie Catherine Brown, Augusta and several nieces and nephews. Donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Georgia or the Spirit Creek Baptist Church Youth Fund. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
