CLASSROOM TECHNIQUES

A Word to Educators

As you enter the 2003 - 2004 school year, we hope you'll remember The Augusta Chronicle's Newspaper in Education (NIE) program.
It has been recognized as one of the leading programs in the nation.
NIE is a non-profit segment of the newspaper that provides free support services to teachers, including in-service training, resource materials and classroom presentations.
The newspaper is a flexible teaching tool that can be used in all areas of the curriculum and at all age and ability levels. Augusta area teachers have successfully used the NIE program to teach math, science, reading, writing, social studies and health and safety.

Instructional Resources
We offer more than 50 resource guides for using the newspaper in the classroom. Always available at no charge, these materials are distributed not only to teachers involved with our program, but also education students and parents.

Materials
Upon request, our NIE department will provide laser photos, paste-ups, negatives, plates and color separations to teachers as aids to use in the classroom.

We also provide assistance, when asked, with special programs for teacher and student recognition and development (ex. teacher of the year, career fairs, etc.).
